No Awkward Silences Allowed: Party Games That Actually Slap

Stop acting like you’re too good for a game of limbo. What you’re actually too good for is letting yourself have a good time. I’m the first to admit it: I spent the first two decades of my life thinking I was too cool to play games. Someone whips out Guesstures and next thing you know I’ve left the room. Meanwhile everyone else is laughing their asses off and having a good time while I watch Tik Tok on the couch: LAME!

Games are perfect for parties because parties are often a collection of people who don’t know each other. And you know what they say: nothing unites people like a shared enemy. Whip out the monopoly board and give these people an enemy! (What do you mean I don’t get my $200 for passing Go?!)

There are different games for different vibes. Here’s a few match ups I recommend..

Rummy at a Dive Bar. You know what Kate Hudson’s character would probably do in How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days? That’s what we're going for here. Show up at the bar with a deck of cards, order a Shirley temple, and argue about the rules of rummy. That’s what I do most Saturday nights. I recommend it.

Uno with Family. You know what’s going to get your weird uncle to shut up about tariffs and taxes? An Uno Reverse card. I don’t care if you’re 7 or 97 - you know how to play uno. And even if you hate it you secretly love it. Loving Uno is like a tenant of being a person and thats what we need at family events: more love!

Superfight with your best friends. If you’ve never played Superfight, that’s totally cool. I hadn’t either until I was at a beach house with 27 of my closest friends and my brother pulled it out. The premise is that it’s a fight between two players, they each draw a card with some obscure power, and then they argue about who would win in a fight. It’s actually fun af and in my experience everyone is going to want in on it!

Anyways, this seems like a good time to tell you about my greatest wish: a wedding Cheers bartends, but there’s limbo. I promise if you take limbo to an already popping dance floor - it’s going to explode with good vibes. Who doesn’t want that? Mark it down on your list of wedding to-dos.
